Most likely you are I should think, there would be instructions for your system pertaining to what mode does what, if the sound is coming from multiple speakers other than the front stereo speakers then you're using the Digital Signal Processor of your system to create a Surround-Sound DSP effect of some kind for your music.
I'm assuming of course that the music you're listening to is standard stereo.
