I would avoid messing with video converters if possible. You may indeed get a much bigger file and the quality may in fact be worse. You're probably just better off using vlc if you absolutely can't get winamp to play this filetype.

I had put this out there before (had tried to convert, using Switch)
apparently switch won't convert MP4 files! Or maybe it's that I don't know
how to tell it that; what I "do know is that the video doesn't show in the
list when I bring up Switch!

See if you can convert to a supported video format that VLC supports which
is mostly evrything. As for removing the Winamp Essential Pack its it up to
you.

Hello Petro I tried to convert this with Switch (apparently I cannot do
this, for it doesn't show in my list) need further instruction about this
WMV (actually I don't think I have a WMV converter on here! I apologize for
my lack of knowledge here! But I also would like to know if I now should
just get rid of this Winamp Essentials pack as it does not show the video
still? I supp0ose it's not a really huge deal as if I want to watch the
video, I can always bring it up with VLC; I just thought that Winamp could
be made to play the video, but maybe this cannot be accomplished!

Why not just convert this MP4 video to another video format with your
audio/video converter program? Like WMV or whaterver but note WMV will be a
much bigger file size and plays in Windows Media Player. If you convert it
to WMV simply right click the file and choose open with WMP Player. Or first

open WMP player first and then hit enter key on the WMV file in Windows
Explorer.

I went into Programs and features and it would appear that I have Winamp
Essentials pack Christop (at least that's as best as I can remember about
what it says) I did nothing in the options, but almost ever since I've
downloaded and installed this program, Winamp will come up playing
something; I also notice two windows...the regular Winamp window as well as
this other window! I've noticed that with some files, there is a picture
(not a video...but a picture like maybe of nan album cover or something? In
any case, the video I want Winamp to play still doesn't! So maybe there's
something I have to do in order to tell it I want it to play this video? Or maybe I should just uninstall this pack as I'm not sure that this is what I
need! Advice and information will be appreciated!

Tom,

Are you saying you don't know whether you downloaded or not, or that you
even got the right programme?
What was the file name? What did it say while you were installing it?

As for winamp starting automatically, it sounds like you accidentally turned

on an option in playback prefernces. I don't think this would have anything
to do with a download, either Wineamp Essentials or otherwise.

Okay...assuming I've downloading the right thing, still no video! I do
get
something else that appears on the scscreen. But Winamp _still_ isn't
playing the video part! So guess it's "back to doing VLC if I want to see
the video unless someone can tell me if I've done something wrong!

Okay...what I'm getting is "download Software Client" (there's also
another
link that says "download (something else; don't remember what) but no link
that just says "download!"

Tom,

It looks like you have to click on the link that says "download". It lists
the number of kilobytes of the file and the number of votes it has. It
looks

like a trustworthy site. Just try it :P
It will probably send you an .exe self-extracting archive. If it doesn't,
just dump the contents of the archive in your winamp\plugins folder.

Pardon my ignorance here, but exactly what (on this page) do I need to
click
for the download for this Winamp Essentials pack? Also, once I've
downloaded it, where do I install it? Thanks!

You can try this for the essentials pack. I just found it with a google
search and as usual there are a host of similar sites claiming to offer
the
same thing....
http://winamp-essentials-pack.software.informer.com/5.6/
I won't guarantee it will solve the problem but it can't hurt to install
this.

Hi Tom,

While in Winamp try pressing Alt+V while the video is playing. Then if
you want to see the video in full screen mode press Alt+Enter. I hope
this helps.

Regards Steve.
