Good grammar is why I take Time magazine. They have absolute standards and if you can find a grammar mistake and point it, they will laugh at you and prove it wrong. One of the things I don't appreciate about a common rule of emailing is the silly NO YELLING by using caps key down. Well, I once corresponded, before the Internet by a high school kid who had a TRS-80 IV. He would send me reams of his thoughts and explained that I was his adopted dad. I asked him why he always wrote in all caps. He said, and I quote, "WELL, MY DAD WAS AN ALCOHOLIC AND I WAS RIDING WITH HIM AND HE WAS DRUNK. HE WENT OFF OF THE ROAD AND WE WERE IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT THAT KILLED HIM. I HAD EXTENSIVE ARM AND HAND REBUILDING. I NOW HAVE NO THUMBS, SO INSTEAD OF FIGHTING WITH THE CAPITAL LETTERS AND THE SHIFT KEY, I JUST TYPE IN ALL CAPS." I wonder how he is handling the Internet. It wouldn't make it on these lists because of that arcane rule.
