Ok, I've got a MiroMotion DC30 collecting dust in the corner... Somewhere around here I've also got a copy of Adobe Premiere that came with the card...
Anyone know of a good source for vid-capture tips? I'd like to capture a bunch of older cassettes of home videos and the like and convert them to VCD (or DVD at the point when I get a DVD-R). I'm a novice with mid-range hardware/software (been using Apple Video Player and the built-in video capture on Macs before), and would appreciate any tips. I know big, fast hard drives are necessary. I've got a 9GB 7200RPM Quantum Atlas and 9GB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda on a 10MB SCSI bus. Think I need UltraSCSI or something faster? Supposedly the DC30 has pretty good compression... I recognize that the easiest solution would be to go 100% DV w/ FireWire and a converter box, but I don't have the hardware or cash right now for that. Oh yeah, PowerTower Pro 200MP 184MB RAM, OS you-name-it (8.1 partition, 8.6 partition, and 9.1 partition). Is Premiere multiprocessor aware? Doing this on my beige G3 is out of the question due to the crippled SCSI.
