My Kodak DX3500 (2.3mpixel, $180 at Kmart last year) connects
directly from the camera to my Mac 7300/G3/400 via a supplied USB
cable (I installed a Belden USB card). The excellent Kodak picture
software (on a CD) which came with it is easy to use. I carry the CD
in my camera bag for those times I want to transfer images from my
camera to someone else's computer. The software will import and
process (trim, modify, resize, compress) any jpeg; a friend borrowed
it for this purpose since his Toshiba digital camera apparently
didn't come with software as good as Kodak.
I'm very happy with my Kodak, it's easy to use, and as a result, I've
pretty much parked my Nikon F1 except for specialized photography
(e.g. telephoto, close-ups, B-shutter settings).
