Greetings! My IPS is giving away digital cameras as "christmas presents" (well you have to sign up for 18 months...), a Logitech Clicksmart 420. No this is by no means a high performance device, but I will "take pictures of my family in front of the pyramids" as someone here put it, and to have fun with with it. It will suffice. My analogue Contax is for the other specialized works.
The issue with this Logitech is that the software is Windows only. I happen to have Virtual PC and I am planning to upgrade my 4400/200 with a USB card, as soon as I have the time, and knowledge about the compabilites of such cards. So far so good, here comes the question: System requirements for the Logitech (according to specifications on their homepage) is among others a pentium II 400. Now my 4400/200 is as we all know running at 200 MHz and VPC, as an emulated environment, is slower than that. I am planning to use the VPC for loading the picture binaries into my 4400 only, not run any of the windows programs bundled with the camera. If I want to make any fancy digital photo albums or so, I have the Mac for such tasks. I wonder if anyone on the list has any experience of this, shouldn't this be doable with my less speedy processor? Are there other solutions like (Mac) shareware that you can use for loading pictures from a camera whatever brand it is, or do I have to stick with the Logitech's Windows software. This would of course be the best solution (the shareware option). Any suggestions on the subject of getting a USB card for the 4400/200? I'm running OS 9.1.
