For those who have been following this thread, I just checked out my 
old Mac 8500 manual ("Hello, my name is Mike and I read my manual, 
too") to see that the switched outlet can handle 3 Amps at 100Volts. 
That would be 300 Watts max or slightly higher at 110-120 volts.  As 
others have stated, it would probably be best to run devices that 
stay somewhat below that limit. My  Supermac 17" monitor is 150 watts 
alone but probably the single biggest power draw device I would ever 
use.
