Is there anyone else here with pre-G3 PowerMacs upgraded with third
party cards, who can run QuickTime 6 without crashing?

We installed QT 6 on the following two PowerMacs.
        PM 8500/G3/300
        PM 9500/G3/400
Both machines crash when trying to view the Apple promo video "Power
Mac G5 Video" at <http://www.apple.com/powermac/>.

The 9500 had a brand new SCSI HD, formatted with Drive SetUp and had
a fresh install of MacOS 9.1 the night before the installation of
QuickTime.

Have you given enough RAM to the player? Ram must be allocated in 9.1 and I imagine that piece needs quite a bit of it to play. :-)

I gave it 20,000K preferred and 9,000K min. The video ran longer but still crashed my PM8500/G3.
