Hello, listers. I hope someone out there has a suggestion or two.
My system: PM7600/G3-400/384Meg RAM, OS 8.6
My scanner: Agfa E25
My problem: Until recently, this little unit was working fine. Suddenly, everytime I go to scan something I get a "communications error. Check log for details."

I did find the log (in the preferences folder). The log reads "ERROR STRING: SNAPSCAN e25 device error:" then below this one "ERROR STRING: Communication failure: IO error"

There is no visible physical damage to the scanner, and the USB ports seem okay; they show up in the system profile. I have unplugged and plugged in the AC cord, and the USB cable at both ends. I have deleted and then re-installed the Agfa software, all to no avail.

I admit, I'm stumped! Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

TIA
