Maybe beyond has advantages you want or even need. But maybe not. There is a road to travel to achieve 9.2+ on your machine. I would not believe without seeing (sorry, no offence to anyone here) a machine of 7300/180 vintage become a fast and efficient OS 9.2+ using, all regular beaut apps that work fine from 7.5 to 9. without spending so much that it would be just plain obvious that you would have been better off jumping to a faster bused machine like a G4.
In general, take into account where you are in the evolution of your machine. And the road ahead. I can see how 9.2 could easily be "round the corner". But not from the sound of where you are at.
