Never seen this problem. But tis good advice, for switching from/to any email client! *Backup* all your mails, then install Eudora, do the imports, get things working smoothly, THEN dump Outcrook. Personally, I'd do another backup before dumping OE.

The ONLY complaint I have with Eudora Pro is that it will occasionally decide to compact a mailbox when I close the mailbox. So I have to spend 30 seconds or so watching the spinning cursor.

oh, my eudora never compacted anything, how does that work !?

Eudora uses the standard *nix sendmail file formats, for its mailboxes and address books. This is great for compatibility but terrible for storage efficiency. After a lot of use, a mailbox may be full of "empty slots" - places where deleted emails once lived. The Compact function squeezes out those slots. It's done automatically, based on some settings (when a certain percentage of a whole mailbox is wasted space, or when you close the mailbox, or when you quit Eudora), or manually if you click on the size bar at the bottom of the mailbox's window. The process of compacting a mailbox can take only a few seconds if the mailbox is small, or minutes if it's gigantic.

...Have you'all upgraded to Eudora 6.1 yet? I did the other day, and WOW. It's a LOT faster than Eudora 5 or even 6.0 was! Great to see such an improvement in an app that runs in OS 9 on my ancient PM 7300!
