I have a Powermac 7300/180 with OS 8.1. When it comes to mail clients, I
use my Mac often for email and internet, (I also have a pair of wintel
boxes that I use for gameing, Internet radio, modern wintel programming,
and other things that I can't manage with an old PCI-Powermac) but the old
Cyberdog 2.0 that came with OS 8.0 is starting to get old real fast. I
haven't found something for my mac nearly as good as, say, the modern
outlook express systems yet. (I know I keep mentioning Microsoft stuff, but
I'm not pure Macky, though it's my preference) I've used several things,
like an older version of "Microsoft Internet Mail and News" (The prelude to
outlook express), and a REALLY old copy of Eudora that I found on a floppy
that I used to use with my Mac SE (Before my ISP stopped supporting it's
2.4KBps modem. lol). Anyway, what I wanna know is, does anybody know of
some exeptionally good pop mail programs that will work on OS 8.1? I don't
need anything with lots of features, just preferably something that is
compatible with Microsoft's Beta Pop service for Hotmail. (I use hotmail as
a secondary email address)
While we're at it, anybody know of a decent freeware SMTP server?I have
a freeware version of EIMS, but it's aweful buggy, and I know next to
nothing about running it anyway. I don't really need one, it's just nice
to have ur comp one step closer to independant with ur own SMTP. :-)
Just to summarize, I'm looking for a good freeware POP client, and
maybe an SMTP server, that'll run on a PowerMac 7300/180.
Thanx peeps, this list rocks,
ES
