ive got an 8600 with sonnet 800.....
download the Sonnet Tune Up program for osX
This is different from the program for the crescendo
extensions for the card under os 9.1
Tune-Up will enable altivec.
If you are using XPF 2.2.4, i have been sucessful
with L2cacheconfig or CPU director.
If using XPF 3.b1, then only use CPU director
CPU director figures out the L2number automatically...
L2cacheconfig does not...
(have to run app in os9)
interleave yr RAM! if you have boot problems
eliminate RAM sticks... you may have incompatible
ram... i never had this prob, but read stories...
(actually all my ram is OWC edo ram... very good
stuff)
run Xbench on yr G3 card. save the results
and compare to yr new G4 card... hopefully
you will be pleasantly surprised.
when i installed mine, i get her to boot up
the first time under os9... no problems..
