Anyone got any advice or personal experience running a *nix OS on 68k
Macs in particular, but also PPC Macs? I'd love to hear about your
successes, failures, thoughts, etc.
If there's any decent objective FAQ on this subject just direct me to
that instead.

I've run NetBSD and MKLinux on a 840av, 660av and with some success on
a performa 460.. Install for the most part is a breeze, and the 840 was
noticeable faster.. A good place to start : www.pengiunppc.com for info
on older machines.. As far as PPC are concerned I really like Debian
(Woody) and the Gentoo/PPC build.. Though neither of those are really
for the begginer, Yellow Dog would be better there..
