I'm going to make a choice between two G4's to buy. both has the same
configuration and price:
G4 system, 28GBhdd, 256mb ram, gigabit ethernet, agp 16mb video card,
firewire400 and usb...
one is a G4-533 single cpu, the other is G4-450 dual cpu.

for those of you who may used either or both of these system, which
one would be faster/better?

Depends on what kinda apps you use the most.

If you do a lot of heavy Photoshop work, are constantly converting or burning audio/video files (iMovie, iTunes, etc.), or do 3D renders, etc....then you'll be better served by the dual processors.

OTOH, the Digital Audio systems represent what I call the "sweet spot" for budget-limited folks who want a G4 that will serve them well for quite some time. It's the first G4 with 133 MHz bus (vs 100 in dual 450) and the only G4 tower with four PCI slots (all others have three). The 533 will be a bit faster in most "typical" day-to-day operations, and I think that extra PCI slot is a significant bonus.

YMMV,
