Would a AHA-2940UW card work in my Mac 9500?

If Apple ROMed it will.

Although the UW is Ultra Wide, which would be 68-pin, right?

Yes.

What about a SCSI card that uses 80-pin SCA?

No such beast. SCA is not a SCSI format ie Ultra Wide, LVD etc. It is a connector type. SCA drives came in all flavors from FW to HVD to Ultra320 etc.

I thought I read someone talking about stuff like that. I'm using SCA drives, w/50-pin adapter, and am wondering if there is a cheap way to increase their performance. I don't have any problems using Jaguar with the original 604 :) . I just came across a couple of the cards, and was wondering what the possibility was, and perhaps what I should be looking for.

You can increase the performance of the drives (provided they are faster than you are using them) by connecting them to a controller that is compatible with them. For example if you have an Adaptec 2940UW connecting a UW drive will work at it's best. You would need SCA > 68 pin adapters.
