So unless the internet gets some new processor intense format they are safe for a while. Hell I just upgraded my 7500 to a 604e200 a week ago (it was $5 for the processor) just so my videovision setup had a few more horsepower. The way I look at it once these machines are not worthy enough for the masses I can get my upgrades for my units extremely cheap. 400Mhz Sonnets (like the one in my 8500) can be found relatively cheap and give a decent boost to an old PCI Mac running OS9 so that it is very usable as a main machine for most people. So if you are using a PCI Mac as your main machine adding an older used G3 is still cheaper then buying a Mac mini.
