Are you saying this dirve is a RAM drive yet will burn a standalone DVD ?
Several times over the past 2 years there have been threads asking about the possibility of just hooking up a DVD drive.
And those whop claim success seem to always cite glitches and problems.
I wish you a lot of luck on this and hope you will let us know your hardware/software configuration and the relevant details.

It seems lady luck was with me - the Toshiba 8x DVD-RAM was recognized by Toast 5.2.1. I could make copies of DVDs authored on a Powerbook G4-1.5 GHz on the 8500. But to watch them I use an Apex DVD player hooked to TV.
But Toast's menus are not so explicit as Nero 6 as I had to go around the settings just to accomplish what I wanted. 2x burn speed was error free.
