I have switched the local Historical Society over from an early PCI Power
Mac to a G3 B&W Rev B.

They've been using a Laserjet 1200 via USB on a 2-port card.

System on the G3 is 9.2.2.

Set everything up and everything is working - Firewire and USB ports see
Firewire and USB drives - internal modem works fine - except the Laserjet
doesn't seem to want to communicate with the G3. Nothing has changed in
printer land. Same cable. I did unplug and restart the printer.

Can't see the USB option in either "Chooser" or "Network Chooser" (duh, but
it's worth a look) though I can make a desktop printer. I cannot use the
Auto Setup option in Desktop Printer (F)utility, obviously, b/c the printer
won't respond. And of course the Desktop Printer won't print.

I added an Orange Micro 4-port card to the G3 and still no dice for the
printer. Of course the drives all work fine with the card.

I can plug the printer into my iBook (9.2.2) USB port and print away all
day long after installing the H/P driver with their installer.

Anyone ever had this problem? Web searches have not turned up much of any help.
