I'm running OS 9.2.2 on a PTP with a Sonnet Crescendo G3/450/1M CPU card, a Sonnet Tempo ATA133 card, and lots of RAM and hard disk space.
I have a Lite-On DVD+-R/RW drive. ASP reports it thusly: >CD-ROM drive >Vendor: LITE-ON >Revision number: JS02 >Product ID: DVDRW SOHW-1673S I can't the drive to play DVD's! It can read files on them, but when I try to play them with Apple DVD Player, I get the following message: >The application "Apple DVD Player" could not be opened because "ATI IDCT" >could not be found. I'm guessing from the little I've found out on the web that this has something to do with my display card and/or driver I have tried it with two ixMicro display cards: >Card name: IMS,tt128mb8 >Card model: tt128m >Card ROM #: Not available >Card revision: 1 >Card vendor ID: 10E0 >Card name: IMS,tt3gi [ It's an ix3D Pro Rez, I think!] >Card model: ims3gi >Card ROM #: Not available >Card revision: 1 >Card vendor ID: 10E0 I also have access to the following two cards from my rarely-used Beige G3, if it's worth trying either of them: >Card name: ATY,XCLAIM3D >Card model: ATY,GT-B >Card ROM #: 113-39202-120 >Card revision: 154 >Card vendor ID: 1002 >Card name: ATY,mach64_3DU >Card model: ATY,GT-B >Card ROM #: 113-XXXXX-1.1 >Card revision: 154 >Card vendor ID: 1002 >VRAM size: 6 MB As a last resort, I have the option of a good deal on a new ATI Technologies Radeon 9200 Mac Edition Pci card. Will that be necessary, or will one of the above cards work? Or perhaps, no video card will solve the problem!? BTW, I'm also trying to install Panther on this system! I've had no success so far. Will that also be solved with a better video card? - Aaron P.S. Also, for some reason that almost certainly has nothing to do with the display card, Toast Titanium quits (just before the burn would begin) when I try to burn a DVD-R. It burn's CD-R's with no problem. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
