You can't playback DVD videos without Apple's DVD decoder card. There was a French DVD playback software (I can't remember the url) you download to watch DVDs on those Macs without Apple cards. I tried it on my iMac Rev D whose CD-Rom gave up and into which I installed a tray-loading combo player by Panasonic.

I think ixMicro drivers were not made for OS X.
