Possibly software corruption. Reinstall your system from the CD. You might have to also throw out all your preferences. Have you got any BU medium like zips or external HDs? Have you got any diagnostic software like Norton's? Got anything in your shutdown folder? Check out your RAM, you have very little (surely you need more?) but there could be a problem, I have had shutdown and restart probs with bad ram. Try Gauge Pro. And, of course, your keyboard might be stuck or faulty. There was a hilarious set of posts about washing keyboards on this list a while back, look up archives! 30 eh?
