Well, I think I've stepped into the Money PIt. I'm trying to sink a "last few dollars" into my 9600 box before relegating it as a Junk Box (to be used by houseguests/around food and liquids, etc.) I posted to the Swap list concerning hard drives and got some offers back. The one I'm leaning toward at the moment is for two Seagate 15050N drives of 4 gigs each. It's been forever since I've had to buy a HD, so I'd like to get a second opinion. IIRC Seagates are/were hard working, reliable drives. Can anyone on the list confirm/contradict this?
Old, noisy, *hot*, and slllllloooooowwwwww. If none of those attributes bothers you, then go for it. They're from around 1995, so if they're still working, they must have something going for them.
By slow, I mean you'll be lucky to get 6 MB/s transfers out of them. Jeff Walther -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
