Dear Pam, I was in almost your exact shoes two months ago. I found that I couldn't get my SCSI scanner to work with the QuickSilver until I downloaded and installed the appropriate SCSI card driver from the card manufacturer. (The only difference is I'm using Panther not Tiger.) First, figure out what card it is. Info might show up System Profiler (I forget what the exact name is in X, but you'll find it in Utilities). Or the previous owner of the system might remember what it it. Last resort, crack the cast open and peek, you can probably spot the card without uninstalling it. Once you have the driver installed, you'll have to have X compatible scanning software installed. Check on the manufacturer's site first, they may have something posted. If you have to buy, then VueScan is fairly inexpensive and has a X compatible version, but I prefer Scantastic for ease of use.
