Okay, so this is a slightly technical question...

I have just inherited a fairly generic PC.. this PC has a USB card in it. The card is a totally unknown quantity at the moment as I have not yet had a
chance to test the PC, but it (after a glance) has a VIA chipset.

I want to put it into a 9500. The 9500 runs MacOS 8.6 and 9.1.

Does anyone know of a list of USB chipsets that MacOS 8.6 or 9.1 support? I assume this is potentially a USB2 card, and if so I'm stuffed, but it would
be nice to get it working.

You will probably need to download the USB 1.4.1 software from Apple's site. here is the link:

Odds are good that it will work with your Mac. However, Apple did not support USB 2 until OS X, so even if it is a USB 2 card, you will only get USB 1 speeds out of it.

There is no list of chipsets that I am aware of, but if the card is OHCI compliant (the vast majority are), it should work in your Mac.
