It all depends on what you do on that machine. My personal opinion is that
anything over a G3 400 or 500 is a waste of money since a B&W machine would
be cheaper, faster and more economical to upgrade. Unless you have Altivec
enabled applications there is no point in getting a G4 since it is
comparable to a G3 in performance (depending on backside cache). I find that
you will get a noticeable speed increase by adding more memory (if you are
low) and getting a faster hardrive (in my case a 40GB EIDE drive on a Sonnet
Tempo Controller and 48X IDE CDROM). I have to admit my upgrades were done
back in 2001 before a Beige G3 or B&W plunged in value and 8500's cost over
$100 on ebay.
