Dear Reader, I need an acrobat file printed (five hundred pages) which my pci powermacs are refusing to print on my laserwriter IIg or on a laserwriter 4/600. With both of these good printers I got postscript errors when I used Acrobat Reader 5 running under os 9 something -- they would not print even one page. Acrobat 4 was worse -- it could not even interpret some of the pages in the file.
I have a couple of upgraded 7600's which I use as my main machines. I have the 7600's connected via cat 5 cables to a four port router. I have a laserwriter IIg connected to the another port of the four port router via cat-5 cable . I have used this set up for years and it has worked well. But not for this file. I was thinking I might be able to connect a win 98se run box to the network to do the job but it looks like the win98se box does not recognize the printer over ethernet. I got the win98se box to print a few pages of the file in question to another printer through its parallel port but print time was dreadfully slow. To make this a practical exercise I would need ethernet speeds. I also really want to use the IIg because I have a good quantity of inexpensive toner for it. Anyone know what I need on the Mac or windows side to get this file printed at ethernet speeds. Thanks stephen -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
