Stephen, have you tried printing it out of 5 with the printing method "print as image" in the Print dialog, Acrobat 5.o tab? This bypasses the whole issue of PostScript incompatibilities & whatnot between your printer & Acrobat, although it can be a lot slower -- I realize that can be a pretty intimidating prospect with 500 + pages.
