speaking of which, I have a bit of a problem writing to the disk...
(by the way, thank you for response)
I have gotten a Belkin firewire card into the 8500 (w/ [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and
the system will see the fire-wire CD-R attachment under MacOS X, but
under 9 it will not. SO.. I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge
of where I might find an "antique" version of toast.. like 5 or
something.. I have a version 4 that I guess had come with one of
the drives in the past, but how to make this work :-)???
I have a faster CD drive IN the machine, and I had to remove the
front CD-drive plate to hit the eject button, but it may work with
the external device.. OOOOOO 4X write. Old skool.. :-)
any likelihood of internal or external SCSI DVD?

has anyone else ever bothered to install SCSI-CD-R internally?
if so, was it worth it? or should I leave it external to attacth
it to a 20th mac nearby? and did anyone ever make a DVD useable
the SCSI bus?

Yeah, there should be no problem installing it internally - one
less box outside the computer, less cables and stuff, but unless
you can find a second CD-ROM bezel, it will look a bit uglier. If
you want the ability to use it on different machines, though,
external is the obvious choice. It just depends on what you want to
do.
Of course, if you can't find another bezel, you could just replace
the original drive with the CD writer - in my 9600, I've swapped
out the original drive for an HP SCSI CD writer, which works just
fine. Faster than the original drive too.
