Subject: [PCI] weird question...

I am wondering if I should take a CD-R out of a "Lacie" case, (which
is SCSI) and try to put it INTO the older 8500 I have.. has anyone
else ever bothered to install SCSI-CD-R internally? if so, was it
worth it? or should I leave it external to attacth it to a 20th mac
nearby? and did anyone ever make a DVD useable the SCSI bus?

Why not? The 8500 whilst having PCI architecture had on-board SCSI, so installing a SCSI CD-RW shouldn't be a problem. I did it without a glitch on a 7600 with a Yamaha CD-RW mechanism. The LaCie SCSI externals were reliable in general, their limitations considered (one of my first external burners was a LaCie with a Yamaha 4416), so have a go at it.

Cheers, OM
