check out the Unsupported OS X list and the swap list. Save $$$ and learn if 
Tiger will work in your machine. But you may have to settle for 10.3 or earlier.

And an accellerated CPU won't cost much.

so I'd need an upgraded video board for the video stuff...  I am  
thinking that this is not such a great spenditure of $$$.. it would  
be nice to get 10.4 onto the 8500 w/ G3 +.. but.. eh...  it seems to  
be not so important.   the data part will work though... would it  
boot off a CD/DVD?
