Hey all,
New to this list, but not LEM lists. I just picked up a Power
Macintosh 5400/180 All-In-One form my local Goodwill for ten bucks.
It's a good machine so far, but I have a few questions. First, it came
with a yucky 16MB of RAM. I took a 128 stick from a defunct Daystar
tower (doesn't boot...?) and put it in the 5400 - same type of RAM.
Well, that's great, but the 5400 only recognizes it as 64MB. Any
workarounds for this, or am I stuck? I guess 80MB isn't that bad
either.
Next, it has a PCI slot + right angle adapter. Can I put a video card
in there, or will that screw things up? I'm thinking multiple
monitors.
One more - I took the video input card from my performa 6300 and put it
into the 5400 - it was working fine. In the 5400, there are faint
horizontal lines in the picture. Any ideas why?
Overall, it's a great machine, I remember these from elementary school,
and I had previously owned a 5260, which was one of my favorite Macs.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
