Makes me wonder if my G3 Gossamers' difficulties in reading anyhing
but pure mac OS std-cd's could be something of the same? All my other
elderly macs read UDFs & MacOS ext w/o problems. I have to use my
external burner to read my own UDFs (a disk format that my brand new
G4 powerbook cannot read either!!!), thus I am slowly recopying the
UDFs to MacOS std.
(UDF is a packet writing format enbaling one to use CDs as disks. The
drawbacks being that they are often frightfully slow to read, and if
you cram too much on to them, they can "crash" and become unreadable
(the content is still there, but no Mac program I have ever gotten my
clutches on, has ever been able to recover it. A PC program can, but
PCs do not comprehend the Mac resource fork & data fork system, so
that thumbnails are recognised as separate files, and the files you
are after, are not often recognisable by Finder).

Buy a "CD lens cleaner", it's a CD-ROM with audio-instructions and
has 2
brushes. Use as a normal CD and follow the instructions.
A good one, in my exp., is Philips SBC AC300.
