It's really loud. My first move will be to add an IDE card and take
out the horribly loud SCSI drives however -
OK, you know it is the drives and not just the fans making the noise
you dislike? Is a SCSI drive that much noisier than an IDE. age for age?
Also when I put it to sleep the fans don't stop for some reason.
What's the deal? Anyone figured out how to put it into a deeper
sleep mode? (I'm used to a G4 Cube so I'm picky)
If you turn off the drives and you turn off the fans, what is left?
Not a great deal for sure. Use the other sleep function: turn
machine off. I have a raid array box with SCSIs (yes, quite noisy as
it happens, there is a second fan which comes on if it gets hot
enough in there. All built in. I guess you could thermostat control
your fans...)
