~ can then you should reduce the resolution of your images to
~ 72 dpi as most
~ web browsers can't make out the higher resolutions and why add to any

Whoops, you're right. Maybe I'm so used to optimizing my pics I missed that
one. Somebody get the wet noodle. ;)
I've used Tripod in the past, so I can second that they are pretty good. So
is their sister site, Angelfire (both Lycos). Both servers are usually
pretty fast.
If you want to search for a bunch of free hosts, using specific personal
requirements, this is a pretty good site:
http://www.freewebspace.net/search/advanced.shtml
Some of the unlimited sites sound good, but read the reviews by users. Some
have unlimited space, but are hard to get into and upload pages, or the
servers are extremely slow, unless you upload in the wee hours of the
morning.
There are also lots of free web photo album sites out there. Just do a
search in your favorite search engine. Some of these may be easier or faster
than setting up a whole site.
