The system did go into standby before perfectly. I installed a new motherboard athlon XP-333, bought a new case, installed full version win98 second edition, new video card, and new modem. Everything else is the same.
I can find the page in bios for settings in power management have tried everything I know of but still cannot get system to go into standby and resume properly. I do not understand what all the settings do there. Wish the manual explained them better. Does windows XP work better with the new power management features. Hibernation, coming out of sleep, etc? Would I be better off upgrading to this version? Would standby be able to handle the board better? Thank you in advance. Go to control Panel, Power Management and set the Power scheme to Always on, System Standby as Never and turn off disks as never. If you want the monitor to turn off after a given time, then set that time to your choosing. For a desk unit, you should not have the hard drive shutting down and with a number of systems, as you are finding out, should not use the Standby or sleep modes. If you need to go into the bios, then as the machine is booting up, start tapping the del key. Check through the menu options and look for the standby. I'm not exactly sure which screen its on, but it probably isn't in the first. If you don't find it, let me know and I'll go into my system and find it for you.
