Clint the .NET is the next generation of Microsoft with almost all of it's business software line being a part of it from MS Passport to the next release of the MS OS. MS is doing an about face regarding many of it's past practices and .NET is leading the push. You only require it if you have software that is built with .NET but the numbers are growing and quickly, as the .NET programming tools have been selling very quickly. I have a P2P file sharing tool written in C# called Swapper http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jthomas497/swapper/swapper.html, it is small and very fast.
