Aloha linda, You probably need to insert an appropriate command in your modems initialization string. To do that you need to go to the control panel and select "Printers and other hardware." Next you need to click on "Phone and modem options." Then you need to click on the "modems" tab on the resulting tabbed screen. On the next screen your particular modem name should be highlighted; if not left click on it to highlight it. Then click on the "Properties" button. On the resulting tabbed dialog window, click on the "Advanced" tab. You will see a title of "Extra Settings." In the entry box below that, put M0 (that's "M" and zero; not the letter "O") and then click on the 'OK' button. >From that point on, click on the 'OK' button on any windows left open until you return to the desktop... >From now on, you should never hear your modem again. But,If that doesn't do the trick, let us know... Have a wonderful day!
