Hi Linda & Keith I had checked that & there is nothing in the XLStart folder. But the problem still persists. I wasn't sure if something should be in the folder. Is there somewhere to set the default template to open? Any thoughts on why it would automatically open the other file & try to open a publisher file?

When I open Excel 2000 it comes up with a error box that says " pubA.tmp not a valid template " then it opens a file that I did about 2 months ago and then a error box that says " meeting 1013.pub is not a valid file ". It seems to try to be opening a Publisher file by default. I tried to run detect & repair and it did no good. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Excel with no success. Any ideas?
