Anne, Hook-up your scanner via USB cable and see if XP recognizes it. If you have already hooked up the USB cable, next go to Device Manager and check "Imaging Devices" or elsewhere, and if it is listed with a Yellow exclamation mark, R-click and remove the Device. Reboot and it should find your Scanner and prompt for a Search for Drivers at which point you can point it to your CD drive if it doesn't find them by regular search.

There is a picture of the parallel cable and one of the USB cable. The USB picture has an X on it, and I am warned not to use the USB cable. When I download the scanner stuff, and then try to run it, I am told that they can't find my scanner. How can I make my USB work.
