That was probably a custom shortcut icon. These are created by
the website by placing (favicon.ico) or similar in the root
directory of the website's file, then by someone creating a
shortcut to the site. If you dump your temp folder, or temp. net
files folder, the icon will revert back to the generic IE icon.
You can right click it and change the icon to a windows shell
icon, but the only way to change it back to the bank's icon is to
create the shortcut again. Then you may be able to right click
it and see the location of the custom icon, and save it
somewhere. That doesn't always work because sometimes when you
go to change it and look at the path of the custom icon, it will
show it still as a generic IE icon.

Hi Everyone,
I have a quick question with regards to windows XP desktop
shortcut
icons. I had a shortcut on the desktop that had the icon of the
bank I use.
All of a sudden it has changed to an explorer icon and I can`t
get it to
change back to the bank logo. This has happened before when I
cleared the
cookies I think but would usually return but not now. Any info
would help.
Thanking you all in advance.

   Mark.
