In addition to what others have said; from what I've heard I
believe 512mb is the limit for '98 anyway. But that just
depends on whom you ask and what websites you check. There
doesn't appear to be any DEFINITIVE answer to that, however
anything over 512mb can cause problems:

The 'argument' continues........

I used 512mb DDR on '98 & ME. I now use it on XP Pro but may
go to 1gb soon.

Hi Virginia,

>From what I understand, unless you are doing some very heavy
graphics work,
384 MB is optimum for Win98. I guess 512 seems to work for
you. I suggest
that anything over that would be counterproductive, as you say,
unless you
wanted to run a 128 MB RAM Disk or something. WIn95 and Win98
both had some
memory management issues.

I run Win98SE with 256 on a 650 Mhz P IIIE, and have not had
any indication
of anything but optimum performance for the last two years. I
do run some
heavy duty graphics programs as well.

I don't have much experience with XP, but from what I can
gather - 512 is
optimum for that as well - unless you are running very heavy
duty graphics
or a
server or something.
