I have a basic, simple query: A student of mine asked me about the purpose of "Apply."
Many applications ask you to click on Apply and then Close or OK after changing settings. Those settings seem to work just as well if you click on Close or OK without clicking on Apply. Is there any purpose for including this extra step?
