I finally got most of my Inbox.dbx file back after several
hours, all but 3 emails. The 3 emails are still back in the
inbox, but won't display any content. Instead of their message
bodies in the Preview Pane, this is displayed:

Of course when I "click here", nothing happens! Of those 3
emails, one is important which I need, so I'd appreciate any
info on how it can be read again.

In case anyone is wondering how I fixed this, I installed
"EasyRecovery Pro". It has an "Email" area but only for
Outlook, so that didn't work. I tried the "Advanced file find"
area, and it keep crashing with the same friggin' "Fault
bucket" error, this time though caused by the program and not
OE of course. I then tried it's "RAW Recovery" area, scanned
the partition, and it found several .dbx files which it placed
in "[name].dbx" folders. I opened each of these in Notepad and
searched for specific words until I found the "inbox" file that
had the missing emails. I then renamed that file to Inbox.dbx,
put it in the OE storage folder and got the emails back (except
for those 3 emails mentioned above). Even after viewing this
file in Notepad and searching for text and finding the emails,
I still could not locate this exact email I needed, I only was
able to find its headers. So apparently that's why it's not
fully back in the Inbox, HOWEVER, I DID find the text of the
other two emails that are not showing in my Inbox, so I don't
understand what the deal is with this one email.

My problem now, it's trying to find out WHAT HAPPENED, and how
I can STOP this from ever happening again! So far all I could
find was this generic info from M$. What really gets me is
they have the audacity to say, to "stop dbx corruption when
compacting, use SP2" !!!!!!!!! I NEVER had this BS with SP1,
only SP2! So far like l said this is the first time it's
happened, but if it happened once, it WILL happen again.
https://s.microsoft.com/mindshare/filecorruption.mspx My inbox
was the smallest it's ever been, only about 50 emails, and the
other folders were even smaller. So, that wasn't the problem.
I compact the folders every day, so that also was not the
problem.

Again, any info appreciated.

I have a serious problem. It just never ends. I just lost ALL
of my "inbox" in OE! I was "compacting all folders" and once
again got the same old crash of "Fault bucket" during the
compact process. The error window came up as usual, I closed
it, then OE closed. Event Viewer said the same thing it's said
for YEARS now when I *close* OE (regardless of SP1, SP2 and new
formats), "Fault bucket", but this is the FIRST TIME I ever got
it while compacting folders. I open OE again and ALL of the
emails in my Inbox were GONE! ALL of the OTHER folders are
FINE! Sent Items, Drafts, folders I created, etc., all of
their contents are still there! I went to the OE Storage
folder area and the Inbox.dbx file is there, but it's only 72k,
which is much smaller than the Outbox.dbx file at 186k which of
course is empty! What the hell happened to my emails!!???

I tried a program called "REST2514" and scanned the partition
where the OE Storage resides. I could only recover 2 of the
emails I needed. They had a filename of wbk[xx].tmp (where
[xx] = different letters and or numbers, and there was either 3
or 4 X's but I can't put that here since some of you may have
that filtered). I can open these 2 recovered emails in Notepad
and salvage them. All the other emails I recovered (of the
same type filename) were duplicates of these, and a couple I
just received that I didn't need. Where are the other
emails???? Does anyone know of another method or program where
I can recover these emails I need, and just as importantly; HOW
THE HELL did this happen!!??????

A few days ago I tried a program called "AOEV" and "R-Mail" to
find an email I DELETED from the DELETED folder that I ended up
needing, but they were no surprise bogus and don't work, so
these I would think would not work for me now to recover the
Inbox. I haven't restarted my PC yet, I don't know if I'm
going to try that to see if they come back because it may make
recovery more difficult or impossible. I'm also not going to
check for new email for fear of also doing damage to any
recovery process, so I'll either create a new Identity, or
check the Archives for replies to this.

Any info appreciated,
-Clint
