OK, I've found some info that Win98 doesn't support USB mass storage devices. What is the name of the storage pen? Have you tried going to the web site of the manufacturer of the USB device and looking for drivers? Apparently you are going to need one.

Thanks so much for your help. One of these days maybe I'll learn to dig through the box! This pen came in a very fancy jewelry-type box. Buried underneath the velvet liner was a small instruction sheet as to where to go to download the driver for Win98. I feel like an idiot!
