I'm back with the powersupply questions again. <G> Finally installed the 500
watt power supply I bought 10 weeks ago. Didn't help my cooling problem but
now when I shut down WinXP goes through the motions but the hardware doesn't
turn off like before. The fans are still running after Windows shuts down.
Before I would get a notice on the monitor "no video signal", not now.
Windows seems to be shutting down properly as I am not seeing it do a scan
check when I turn the computer on.
The directions said something about a 20 prong cable and a 4 prong cable. I
hooked the 20 prong one to the motherboard but not the 4 prong one. The old
powersupply didn't use a 4 prong cable. I wouldn't know where to hook the 4
prong cable anyways. Is this the problem or did I do something else wrong.
The computer is working as I'm using it now. It just doesn't turn the power
off at shut down.
