Hi Cindy,

I know exactly what you're talking about, and I agree that the old Windows Explorer was vastly superior to the XP My Computer interface.

I think you will like XP just fine once you get it whipped into shape.
To make your My Computer desktop icon act like your old Windows Explorer, try this.

Open My Computer.
From the menu at the top, choose Tools/Folder Options.
Open the File Types tab.
Scroll down the file types list and highlight Folder.
Click the Advanced button.
Two options should be present (Open and Explore). Select Explore.
Click the Set Default button.
Click OK until you get back to My Computer.
Close My Computer.

Now, when you double click your My Computer icon it should look a little more familiar. If it's still not quite the way you like it, go back into Tools/Folder Options and play with some of the other options that are available. With a little tweaking, I'm sure you can get it to look just the way you want to.

Good Luck,

Eric Neef

I am still trying to learn to use XP (not sure I like it though) and was
wondering if there is something comparable to Windows Explorer in XP so you
can see your files in a tree type format? I have yet to find it and it makes
working with some of this stuff ungainly. Also, is there anyway to get
something like the Office Toolbar in Office 2003? I used that a lot in Office
98 and really miss it.

Thanks,
Cindy
