I never saw Roger's original post, and it's not in the archives
either!

As far as Google is concerned, it's an even better idea to set
a CUSTOM URL so you can avoid their tracking ID cookie they
place on your PC. This is the URL I use if anyone else wants
to make a shortcut to it and use it. This particular setting
is: English, open links in new window, safe search off, and 10
results per page. I think that's what most of us use anyway.
Using this method and this URL, every search you do will have
these settings withOUT having to have Google's tracking Cookie
always on your PC sending info back to them regarding what you
search for. Google.com can also be in the Restricted Sites
Zone and you'll still be able to use the site and these
settings all the time.

Thankfully, looks like http://www.googkle.com/ and
http://googkle.com/ has been terminated. In case anyone is
interested or has been victimized by it, here's the details on
the slime-ball. It's no surprise he's in Russia and Jo*ker is
the registrar! I can safely say that Jo*ker certainly had
nothing to do with getting the site removed since they
SUPPORT illegal, criminal, scamming & spamming websites.
This is probably bogus info anyway since they also allow
their registrants to use fraudulent WhoIs info. Check out the
"nameservers"! That can't be right! Why would Google have a
site like that on THEIR OWN nameservers?? So, it's probably
not too far off to assume the rest of the info is bogus as
well.

Roger is right. And the lesson is? As much as possible, cut
down on typing
URL's or be extremely careful how you do it. My solution is to
keep your
important URL's in your Bookmark Bar or Link Bar or in your
Start menu, or
copy/paste the designated URL from a reliable source when
needed ... that
way, no errors are possible ... Harold
