This turned out to be a Sygate problem and thru their forum I found that
I only had to disable "Stealth Mode" in Sygate and both problems went away.
Thanks for everyones help and support.

When I go to Start>contol panel>MS update, I get a screen that indicates
I do not have a MS operating system. I also use FP2003 and when I select
the help files and then request or select something that requires IE and
use Java script it comes up with a script error. If I turn my FW off it
is fine. I can see nothing in the Traffic logs in Sygate in or out that
would cause this. So I do not know what to change. I have updated all
software involved to no avail. I am now waiting for something from Sygate.
