This is why I stay away from anything having to do with Yahoo.
I'm a firm believer they either sell their email addresses or make them easily 
available to those types of 
places.

Yahoo's IM will allow you to send offline messages.  The only problem I had
with ICQ was a constant barrage of smut that I wasn't interested in.  It
seems ICQ is often used for mass mailings of links to porn sites, and I've
got a curious-enough teenaged son...don't want to add fuel to the fire.
